Led by a team of experienced primary teachers, English specialists and including a leader of an OURfP Teachers’ Reading Group, we are offering three networking sessions, during which teachers will have the opportunity to explore successful strategies for the teaching of writing and reading. Audience: key stage one and two teachers

Creating a reading pathway

This first session will focus on how to ensure there is a rigorous and sequential approach to reading across your school, which develops pupils’ fluency, comprehension and enjoyment of reading.

This introductory session will provide an overview of how to create a reading pathway, which is not limited to simply phonics sessions or reading lessons but a holistic approach to reading and which shows the journey of a child as a reader throughout your school.

An example of a reading pathway will be shared with a range of recommended resources to support, leaving plenty of time to talk children’s books because in order to effectively develop a love for reading, we all need to have an excellent knowledge of children’s literature!

All further sessions will be informed by the needs of the group during this session
